What Ever Happened to Doris Day?

I recently (9/13/11) replaced the video above with an audio video (the previous version from a movie was a broken link) and added the video below.  The scene below is a great one from The Man Who Knew Too Much by Alfred Hitchcock.  Doris sings "Que Sera Sera" very loudly so her kidnapped son, who they suspect is in the house, will hear.  Gotta Love Doris!

Wonderful! D.D. was one of the singers (along with Guy Mitchell, Johnny Ray, Teresa Brewer, Rosemary Clooney and so many more) who formed the soundtrack to my childhood - all innocence, comfort and smiles with lyrics which could be HEARD - until E.P. and his ilk came along (not that I didn't appreciate Rock 'n Roll too!). But so many songs of that era made one feel better after having heard it. Well, maybe in 50 years time they'll be sighing similarly for the passing of songs from Pixie Lott, Lady Gaga and Kanye West!

Camp or what?

You have to admire her, though - I mean, all the boys who used to fawn all over her.

Quite a sweetie, really.

Doris is alive and well and living in Carmel. Actually I spoke to her recentlyand she sounds great. She is very active in animal welfare, runs the Cypress Inn in Carmel and rarely reflects upon her years as the number one box-office star. She does, however, receive more fan mail than in her heyday as new fans discover her gift for singing and acting.

She's the most enjoyable actor to admire on screen. Not only is she beautiful, down-to-earth, and seemingly approachable in movie roles, she's just a joy to watch. So clever, such inflection, perfect timing. The dancing, singing, acting, and charitable dedication to animals make Doris Day truly one-of-a-kind. A presence never to be equaled.
