Good News On the Florida House Front

You may be aware that we are trying to buy a house in Punta Gorda, FL, which is pictured above. There was a problem with a variance that was subsequently challenged by a neighbor in his attempt to get the house torn down because he thought it made his McMansion valued less. Anyway, today was the Punta Gorda Council Meeting, so they voted on the variance on the house and approved it. Now we have to wait up to 2 weeks for the town to "record" the variance, whatever that means, and then we can go to closing shortly thereafter (we hope). There is a light at the end of the tunnel!

Great news.

As a new reader, I have to ask, is it a vacation home or a relocation?

This will be a vacation home for us. We still will live and work in DC and visit FL as often as possible. We eventually plan to become snowbirds when we retire -- Winters in FL and Summers in Maine or NYC?

Anyway, Thanks for the comment Bucko and welcome to my blog!

God luck with the house. Make sure you check where the water level will be in 25 years before you buy.

Congratz. The house is very nice. From that pic it looks just like the house we had in Bradenton, FL. We l-o-v-e-d that house!

Worthwhile things sometimes take time. Glad this finally seems to be working itself out!

The view does look lovely Mark. :)

I do agree with my hubby though, make sure you know where the water level is supposed to be in that area in the coming decades. I know it is just an investment/second home, but you are in the planning stage, so it doesn't hurt to check.
